The 2025–2026 Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Final will be the first event in Italy with access via NFC technology.

This year’s edition marks an important milestone, allowing entry to the stadium in a completely digital mode, without the need for QR codes.

Bologna, 30 April 2026. The 79th edition of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa will introduce in the final scheduled for 13 May a new access model based on NFC technology, which will allow fans to use their smartphone as an entry ticket, eliminating the need to show QR codes or physical tickets.

This innovation has been made possible thanks to the collaboration between Lega Calcio Serie A and Vivaticket, official ticketing partner of the event, as part of a joint initiative aimed at promoting the digitalisation of sporting events.

This “contactless” system represents a significant evolution in access to major sporting events, improving the flow of audience entry and offering a faster, more convenient and safer experience for fans.

“For the first time in a major event in Italy, at the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Final entry to the stadium will be via NFC technology: a concrete step that brings Italian football towards a new era of innovation,” said the CEO of Lega Calcio Serie A Luigi De Siervo. “For years we have undertaken a path of technological evolution to make stadiums increasingly accessible, through systems that simplify and facilitate entry into facilities and especially with a view to greater sustainability of the sporting event, even more so in the Coppa Italia Final which this year is also characterised by the ‘Road to Zero’ project. Thanks to the collaboration with two highly prestigious companies such as Apple and Vivaticket, we are once again pioneers in the use of innovative tools that improve the experience and usability for all fans, bringing us into the full digital era.”

“We are very proud to have contributed to making the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Final the first event in Italy with access based on NFC technology. This advancement represents a further step in the digitalisation of access to major sporting events, putting innovation at the service of fans and concretely improving their stadium entry experience,” Silvano Taiani – CEO of Vivaticket.

The Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Final, which will be played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome between Inter and Lazio, will thus become the first event in the country to include NFC-format tickets.

The system will allow participants to manage and use their tickets in a completely digital format via mobile devices, being compatible with the main operating systems, including iOS and Android.

Vivaticket thus consolidates its role in ticketing management for major events, contributing to the digitalisation of access processes.

The Coppa Italia Frecciarossa is one of the most prestigious competitions in Italian and European football. In the last edition 2024–2025, Bologna won the title by defeating Milan at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, achieving their third Coppa Italia, 51 years after the last success.
